Energy Efficiency
According to the conclusion drawn by the World Bank's working group during its 2008 assessment of the energy intensity of Russia's economy, its reduction potential is valued at up to 40 percent. A huge part of this potential is located in the industrial sector. These conclusions are confirmed by the findings of energy audits.
The task of improving energy efficiency and reducing energy waste can be addressed through the adoption of energy saving projects by businesses. These projects involve the replacement of obsolete components of the electric power infrastructure and power receivers for modern, energy efficient devices; installation of equipment capable of enhancing the quality of incoming energy resources (surge protectors, reactive power compensators); and commissioning of captive power generation facilities, etc.
The implementation of such projects is possible either through the use of each business's own or borrowed from ESCMO funds. In each case, the return on investment into the modernization of such business's infrastructure will come from real savings resulting from the adoption of energy efficiency measures (energy service contract).
The main prerequisite for the adoption by a business of an energy efficiency program is the performance of an energy survey.
Energy Survey (Audit) is a tool that allows a business to obtain accurate information on the state of its power facilities, depreciation of equipment and areas of energy waste, as well as to prepare an economically viable program for improving its energy efficiency.
Pursuant to the provision of Art. 16 FZ-261 "On Energy Efficiency ...", energy audits are mandatory for companies whose total energy-related expenses exceed ten million rubles per calendar year. The power to conduct energy audits and issue energy passports is vested with members of self-regulatory organizations of energy auditors. ESCMO (JSC) is member of Non-Profit Partnership "Interregional Association in the Field of Energy Surveys ENERGY AUDIT" (SRO NP ENERGY AUDIT) and is authorized to conduct energy audits in accordance with the FZ-261.
The cost of energy auditing can vary from company to company greatly. ESCMO (JSC) will be happy to give you a price quote for an energy audit, as well as information on its duration and execution procedure upon submission of the following information:
- Process flow sheets of enterprise's electricity, heat and water supplies.
- Total structural volumes of the surveyed buildings.
- Quantity, types and installed capacity of captive electric and heat power generation facilities.
The provided data can be used by an enterprise's management to determine the plan and budget for the mandatory energy audit measures (with a possible monthly installment plan and the most convenient funds diversion scheme).
Upon completion of the energy audit, the audited enterprise is issued with an FZ-261-compliant energy passport and a set of recommendations on the development of an energy efficiency program.
